Cape Town - Fans have backed the the decision to give Imran Tahir the axe following the spinner's disappointing performance against Australia.

Here's what Sport24 readwers had to say about Imran Tahir's axing:

"Tahir must use being dropped as a motivation to improve significantly." - atholl.canterbury

"Imran is now well into his thirties. It's questionable how much more he can develop his craft." - Richard Barnes

"Tahir had one bad tour showing and he is off...Rudolph should be next after failing repeatedly for the Proteas." - Hansie Crook

"I wouldn't exactly call Tahir's tour "bad". It was Horrendous, disastrous, record breaking and just plain wrong. My gran would have conceded less runs they he did."
- wesley.rosseau

"Robin Peterson has worked hard for his place and rightully deserves it... Tahir is still a good player and will need to work up something special to earn his place back." - Unity

"Really not sure why there is so much hype about Tahir..." - U

"Dropping him from the team will demoralize him, they should've kept him in the squad."
- unverified comedian

"Tahir only has himself to blame. Had his chances and performed below-par."
- Nico Eksteen

"About bloody time. Tahir is useless." - jnpickering

"Imran will come back with a bang! Agree to let him go now and come back later when he returns to form." - FJMalan

"Tahir can do two things now. Sit around and mope because he got dropped or work harder at lifting his level of play and get back into the test squad."
- ClintLeeh
