Fans applaud Springbok squad

Cape Town - Sport24 readers have praised coach Heyneke Meyer for backing youngsters and picking form over favour in an exciting-looking Springbok squad.

Nine uncapped players, six of whom have not been part of the national set-up before, were included in a 34-man Springbok squad for the Incoming Series involving Italy, Samoa and Scotland later this month.

Although some readers expressed disappointment at some individual selections, a majority of Springbok fans praised the overall make-up of the squad.

Here's what Sport24 readers had to say about the Springboks squad:

"Well done to Meyer for choosing a great team." - Vickus Claasen

"Pretty happy with the team."
- Jeandre Davel

"I say the coach has my backing. Young fresh talent to take us to the next world cup."
- Kaizer Sigasa

"Good team. With the right combinations we will be unbeatable." - Renier Koen

"This is a good team selection." - Greg Gows

"Overall, this is an exciting squad that could help change the way our rugby is played, from the stale, predictable 10 man game to a more attractive expansive game." - Rudi Bedeker

"Lekker Bokke, I like this group of players." - Gavin Futcher

"It's impossible to please everyone with every single selection but hopefully this extended squad for this short upcoming series is a good building block to win the Rugby Championship later in the year."
- Gary Doyle

"Good selection. Good mix of players."
- Robert Khuma Sauko

"Nice to see some young and exciting talent being introduced in the Springbok setup. Maybe this is what we need to get the Boks back to the no 1 position again.. Can't wait to see them all play together."
- Jaycee Bezuidenhout

"I like this squad, looking very promising!"
- Gareth Flook

"A nice mixture of form and continuity." - Robert Ridgeway
