Fans: Meyer's our man!

Cape Town - Sport24 readers have given coach Heyneke Meyer their stamp of approval to lead the Springboks to new heights.

VIDEO: Heyneke Meyer's comical coaches box antics!

Following a shaky start to his Springbok coaching career in 2012, Meyer's stocks have soared, with his Springbok team currently enjoying a run of nine consecutive victories and Meyer currently holding the second highest winning percentage of any Springbok coach in the modern era.

A renewed wave of optimism has surged over fans following the Boks' historic 38-12 win over the Wallabies in Brisbane last weekend, where the Springboks won their first ever match at Suncorp Stadium, their first match in the city in 42 years and their first win over the Wallabies in Australia since 2009.

More than two out of three voters gave the current Springbok coach their full endorsement.

It seems the coach has gone from zero to hero in the fans' eyes, in a poll run after the end of last year's Rugby Championship, 42% of Sport24 readers blamed the coach's tactics and selection for the Springboks' poor performance and called for his head.

Sport24 asked:

"Do you believe Heyneke Meyer is the best man for the job of Springbok coach following his historic win over Australia last weekend?"

These were the results:

73% - Yes
17% - Maybe
10% - No
