Cape Town - Sport24 readers have reacted to sports minister Fikile Mbalula's comments that the national football team are a "bunch of losers"
Fikile Mbalula lambasted Bafana
Bafana on Monday for their performance in the 2014 African Nations Championship,
singling out goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs as the reason for the team's
defeat, following Bafana's exit from the African Nations Championship at the hands of arch-enemies Nigeria.
"What I saw there was not a problem of coaching, it was a bunch of
losers, who don't have any respect for this country and don't have any
respect for anybody," Mbalula told a packed media conference in Cape
Town on Monday.
But most Sport24 readers were agreeing with Mbalula:"Yesterday was a pure dissapoinment, and not for the first time i must
add, its like the game was fixed, they never wanted to win!" - Thami Mathlou Mathousand"Bafana Bafana are just a disgrace. They've exhausted the fans patience." - Jack du Preez"Told you before; Bafana Bafana is just a big bunch of Hype! I never
thought I would agree with the Minister, but here he is correct." - Thozi"That's why I like this Minister, calling a spade a spade. These boys are
so spoiled all they know is to fake injuries and cry over for nothing.
Useless bunch." - Fake MC Heither"The minister has a passion for sports, especially when it comes to SA's
national sides. He was just disappointed and showed it too much. We can
do much worse than having him as our sports minister." Chrono Man"He
hit the nail on the head! Coaches cant be blamed any more ! Out with
the old in with the new look at the players get guys that want to
represent our country they get paid too much to do too little!" - Shawn Wright"That what we want to hear minister.... No problem with coaching..." - Nhlazi"He's right, as harsh at it may sound.. *bunch of losers*." Mondli Ngubane"HIGH 5 Mr. Mbalula!!" - Cobie Gagiano"I support him 100%." - Melusi Skhakhane Thathezakhe"What ? A minister telling the truth ? No!!!" - Carin Wynberghen"He's absolutely spot on in what he said. No need to apologize for being right!" - Ashika Maharaj"Good for him, its about time, they are a useless bunch!!! have always been!" - Nicolette Merritt Vosloo"Don't apologise for telling the truth." - Thabo Ndou "Yeah.
Some has openly said what most of us think of the national soccer side.
Best solution dump the whole squad and pick players that want to play
because they love the game and are talented." - Roxanne Niemand"Y shud Mbalula be sorry for stating the facts.... minister Mbalula you are the man." - Namudi Makhola"It
was a bit harsh being televised in front of the Nation and the World
but I think this time they deserved it 110%!! Up your game then this
tongue lashing and Humiliation won't happen!" _ Hayden Miller"We cannot accept mediocrity..." - Masha Arnold "Well done Mr Minister. We all support u. It is about time." - Robert Bowden"Truth hurts, he's 100% correct do not apologise minister." - Thabang"He was being polite with his comments!" - Pieter Botha"Mbalula
just as many of us is frustrated by Bafana's lack luster performance so
far, I think its a good step he has taken to share his frustration. I'm
sick of hearing the same old speech every time after we lose. South
Africans need to wake up and call a spade a spade." - MakwenkweFikile Mbalula and Danny Jordaan. (Gallo Images)
Commanding. Clinical. Classy. It hardly made for an exciting denouement on Sunday at the Maybank...
