Hashim Amla was out for 118 as the Proteas were bowled out for 249 on the second day of the first Test against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi.
Hashim Amla became the fourth South African batsman to score 20 Test match
centuries as he played almost a lone hand to keep the Proteas in
contention.
He became the fastest South African to reach his 20th Test ton, in his
122nd innings, eclipsing the previous record held by Smith.
It is 18 knocks since he last posted a single-figure Test score – run out for nine at Headingley in August 2012.
He has also managed 50 or more runs in seven of his last nine Test innings.
His batting average for the current calendar year is in excess of 96
while his career average has now moved above 53. He has scored six
centuries in his last 12 Tests (19 innings).
Hashim Amla is currently the number one-ranked batsman in the world in both Tests and ODI's.
