Corrie Sanders died in a hospital in the early hours of 23 September 2012 after being shot during an armed robbery. Well loved by all, he was one of South Africa's heavyweight greats in a prolific career where he fought 46 fights, with 42 wins, 31 wins by way of knockout, and only 4 losses.

24 April 2004 - Corrie Sanders knocks down Vitali Klitschko, the current WBO and WBC world heavywight champion. Although Klitschko later went on to win the fight in the 8th round via a technical knockout, Vitali Klitchko said Sanders was the most difficult opponent he had ever fought. "Corrie was fast, could give and take a punch. His style was very dangerous and did not suit me. I was very pleased to be able to win this fight," Vitali Klitschko said. (AFP Photo)
