Another fatal accident at Dakar Rally

Buenos Aires - A person has died following a collision of vehicles including a car from the Dakar Rally in Argentina on Tuesday.

The accident occurred off the rally route in the Juarez Celman district around 700 kilometres north-west of Buenos Aires, the Dyn news agency reported. It is the second fatality this year after a Bolivian spectator was killed Saturday after being hit by the Mitsubishi of French driver Lionel Baud, who subsequently quit the race.

A truck from Baud's team, another truck and four private cars were involved in Tuesday's incident according to the La Voz del Interior newspaper, citing the police.

According to the local radio station Cadena3, Baud's co-driver, another Frenchman, Thierry Dezeiraud was behind the wheel of Baud's car as it was being towed to a port for shipment.

One of the other car drivers was killed in the incident which left five others injured.

At the start of the Dakar Rally, 12 spectators were injured in the Argentine city of Arrecife when Chinese driver Guo Meiling lost control of her car and crashed into the crowd.
