Cape Town - Fernando
Alonso will not have much time to reflect on the Spanish Grand Prix as
he takes a private jet to Indianapolis for an early practice session on
Monday.
The Spaniard produced a stunning display on Saturday by qualifying in seventh place for his home race, but finished out of the points in 12th with a first lap squabble with Felipe Massa impacting his race.
However, Alonso is hoping his qualifying performance can be the start of something new for McLaren-Honda.
"Yesterday was a big plus," said Alonso in the paddock.
"The weekend in general was positive for us. We did finish the race, unfortunately not in the points, hopefully we have made a step forward in terms of reliability and a new step in a new world championship, let's say."
Alonso was also asked whether he was now thinking about victory at the Indianapolis 500.
"No, not yet," he added.
"I'm tired from this race and I'm thinking how to rest on the plane as at 09:00 tomorrow I am due to drive in free practice in Indianapolis!"
