Budapest - Mark Webber topped the times for Red Bull in Saturday's final free practice session ahead of Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix.

The 35-year-old Australian was fast throughout the session as he made the most of an early switch to soft tyres to end McLaren's domination during the first two session on Friday.

Webber, who has won two Grands Prix this year, showed he was determined to maintain his current level of form and ascendancy over Red Bull team-mate defending champion German Sebastian Vettel.

He wound up quickest one-tenth of a second clear of nearest rival Briton Lewis Hamilton who had been fastest on Friday for McLaren.

Webber's Red Bull team-mate Vettel was third quickest ahead of Brazilian Bruno Senna of Williams, championship leader Spaniard Fernando Alonso of Ferrari and sixth placed Finn Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus.

Alonso, who will be 31 on Sunday, is seeking to extend his 34 points lead in the title race and to take his career wins total to 31.

Raikkonen's Lotus partner Frenchman Romain Grosjean was seventh ahead of Brazilian Felipe Massa in the second Ferrari and Britons Paul Di Resta of Force India and Jenson Button, in the second McLaren.

The two Mercedes men, Germans Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg, were down in 17th and 18th place respectively after a lacklustre session.

On a sweltering day at the Hungaroring, the track temperature rose to more than 40 degrees Celsius during the session after Webber had topped the times in the opening laps.

In haste to make up for time lost in Friday's rain, most of the teams worked hard at reeling off the laps with Webber's Red Bull team-mate Vettel taking over as fastest before being outpaced again by the Australian in 1:21.550.

Both men were among the first to run on soft tyres and this gave them an advantage in the sunshine before others also switched over to the softer rubber in the closing minutes.
