Pedrosa on San Marino pole

Misano Adriatico - Dani Pedrosa has secured pole position for Sunday's San Marino Grand Prix with the fastest time in qualifying.

The Spaniard recorded the quickest lap on Saturday, of 1 minute, 33.984 seconds, to secure his fourth pole position of the season. He was the only rider to go under 1:34.

Standings leader Jorge Lorenzo of Spain will line up second after a fastest time of 1:34.256.

Pedrosa seized pole from Lorenzo with the last lap of the hour-long qualifying session.

Casey Stoner crashed early on but he recovered to finish third with 1:34.397.

Defending world champion Valentino Rossi continued his return from injury by finishing fourth in 1:34.470.
