Strong PGA team to represent SA in Turkey

Johannesburg - The PGA of South Africa has announced a strong team to represent the country at the International Team Championship in Turkey this December.

According to the supersport.com website, Clovelly Golf Club’s Mike Michell, Serengeti’s Ryan Reid and the River Club’s Gregg Upton will seek to lead South Africa to a first victory in the PGAs of Europe’s most prestigious team competition, which will be played at the Gloria Golf Resort from 8-11 December.

South Africa has finished 14th the last two years, with a best finish in the competition of sixth in 2007.

Michell will be one of the strongest members of the team as he returns to a stage where he has finished first and fourth in the individual competition. And Reid brings the experience of having played on the European Tour before.

“I think we have a very strong team who are passionate about doing South Africa proud in Turkey,” said Ivano Ficalbi, Chief Executive of the PGA of South Africa.

Scotland return as the defending champions.
