Cape Town - Legendary South African golfer Gary Player has congratulated the USA team after they won the 2016 Ryder Cup.
Shaking off three consecutive defeats, the United States recaptured the Ryder Cup for the first time since 2008 on Sunday, beating Europe 17-11 at Hazeltine National Golf Club.
Player, who is South Africa's most successful golfer with nine major titles, feels it's good for the game to see a different winner.
He took to Twitter afterwards and lauded the American team and also said their win was fitting given the recent passing of American golf icon Arnold Palmer.
Player tweeted:
Congratulations @RyderCupUSA ????????& @Love3d on a superb victory #RyderCup #RIPArnie
