Jordan Spieth revealed that he and his team-mates are pumped up ahead of the 2016 Ryder Cup, which tees off on Friday.

The Americans are eager to stop the rot in the team-based event, where they have lost the last three despite being favourites on paper.

Spieth - who made his Ryder Cup debut in 2014 and won two matches - revealed that the team is tired of being reminded of this.

"Honestly, I think we're just tired of being told that we haven't won in a while," the two-time major winner told the media at Hazeltine.

"Everybody has to take part and do their job in order to have the Cup at the end. We want this one...we're over here. It's going to be really cool having a home crowd. I only know that from my first Presidents Cup experience, so this should be a different animal when we get on the first tee on Friday, and I'm really excited about that."

USA captain Davis Love III is doing his best to fire up his troops, something which Spieth appreciates.

"Captain has told us, as anybody should tell their team, that he believes that we're the best team in the world – and we believe that, as well," added Spieth.

Love went on to say that his charges need to relax and let their natural game take over.

"I think we try too hard to be better than we are or to do something extraordinary, and I think we get in our own way doing that sometimes," said the veteran.

"We just need to understand that we’re a really good golf team, they are a really good golf team. If we just go play our game, the results will take care of themselves."
