Cape Town - Former world No 1, England's Lee Westwood, has hired Zimbabwe's Tony Johnstone as his new coach.
Westwood, 39, who is currently fourth in the latest world rankings, split from coach Pete Cowen and temporary caddie Mike Waite after his disappointing performance at the PGA Championship last week where he missed the cut.
Johnstone, 56, is noted for his excellent short game - an aspect of Westwood's game with which he has struggled in recent years - and topped the European Tour's short game statistics from 1998-2000.
Mike Kerr, who normally caddies for Spain's Alvaro Quiros, will take over as Westwood's caddie for the next two months.
Westwood ended the reign of Tiger Woods as world No 1 in 2010, a position he held for 22 weeks.
