Cape Town - World No 8 Justin Rose has named his favourite nine holes around the world - and two of them are in South Africa.

VIDEO: Justin Rose discusses his Top 9 holes around the world

The South African-born, English professional included on his list Legends Golf and Safari, north of Johannesburg and Pearl Valley, near Franschhoek in the Western Cape.

In a YouTube clip for travel sponsor, British Airways, he describes the features which make the nine courses and holes his favourites.

At Legends it’s the possibility of meeting a lion on the course, making it sensible to have a ranger accompany you, as well as the Extreme 19, where the tee is a 1 000-foot helicopter ride up and the green is shaped like the continent of Africa.

Pearl Valley offers the possibility of mixing golf and wine tasting, ensuring it makes the list. He singles out the picturesque fourth hole, with the mountains in the background, for its sheer beauty.

The other courses and holes which make the list are:

  • The fourth hole at Lake Nona in Orlando Florida (where he lives)
  • The 16th at Port Royal Golf Club in Bermuda
  • The 10th at The Riviera in Los Angeles
  • The 18th at St Andrews, Scotland
  • The 8th hole at the Emirates Club, Dubai
  • The 15th at the Merion Golf Club in Philadelphia
  • The 12th at Augusta National in Georgia
