TIGER is the greatest!! 20+ woman and a wife, and still be the best at golf. some of us can't handle one mistress + career.
Boetman6/24/2010 7:47 AM
How can you not play for a year (Woods knee injury) and still be no 1? No other sport in the world rates their players over a 3 year period. If it wasn't for the unfair system of ranking players then tiger would never have been no 1 for so long. Now compare that to Federer where EVERY game is like a match play situation - he MUST win to stay no 1. Tiger can not play for the next 6 months and still be no 1???? Also if players play in too many tournaments per year they are penalised for it. Thus tiger can pick and choose when and where to play cause he has the money, but not all the pros have this luxury. Please examine his selfish motives to have the most major titles behind his name before you call him great. I hope he never gets the record. Phil will be king soon, he is a much better golfer anyway as it is more difficult for a left handed golfer

Furthermore,, look at the link for the full listing.. Tiger is the worst performing player in the top 20 for 2010. His points earned versus points lost from the previous 2 years says it all.
Paul6/11/2010 8:55 AM
So many of the Tiger fans don't seem to understand how the ratings work. it is a rolling average over 2 or 3 years people! Not a week to week rating. This means Tiger's past performance is keeping him at no 1, not his current. Do yourself a favour and compare the ratings from a year ago to now, you will see how the gap is shrinking every week. If Tiger does not start winning again, or at least top 5 finishes, he will be overtaken shortly.
morri6/8/2010 12:27 PM
Who cares - it is world cup soccer time! Actually Tiger does behave a bit like a footballer in his private time. What happened to golf being a game for gentlemen?
@everyone6/8/2010 10:54 AM
Whats all the hoopla about Tiger Woods?? Until he reaches 19 Major titles he's only another great golfer, like many before him and like many that will follow after him... until then the Golden Bear Jack will hold the title as best golfer ever... Tiger qualifies currently as the best of his generation.
Richard5/19/2010 10:20 AM
Hi again James, I'm just trying to keep a balanced perspective on Tiger. So, his golf record is worth repeating. Tiger gives more to global charity through his person and foundations than the top 10 US PGA Tour Players combined. And I'm not sure whether you noticed that the planet, including the retail industry has been a recession for the past 2 years If we are going to focus on Tiger's personal life, let the standard be the same for all players. Let's start with that great "icon" Gary Player, who for years was an Apartheid apologist during the Apartheid era. When Papwa Sewgolum would win, Gary also stood firm with the racist SA Golf establishment of the time, while Papwa got his trophies in parking lots in the rain. Ernie Else's behavior/demons are also well established. But give Gary his due in terms of his golfing achievements, so to Ernie, and Tiger. Golf is like life, played imperfectly by imperfect people who make mistakes - and one person will never perfectly represent the values of golf. I also don't think you understand the American people as well as you think you do.. Our attention span is short and We have a great capacity for forgiving the contrite, closing ranks and bringing the fallen back into the fold.....
Zohlon5/4/2010 5:05 PM
Rory McIlroy will soon be world's number one.

Tiger is the greatest golfer of all times...no doubt about it !
James4/26/2010 10:43 AM
Richard, your man Tiger is so impressive, he gets it in every hole. golf is fortunately more that getting it in the hole!!! the game si also played by people such as myself and many others who aspire to play well and enjoy the game plus to be accossiated with the sport we love and play. Tiger is a great player but the last person I want as the icon that represent the sport with its values that we love to play. Tiger is the only one in the top 50 who stand asside from the charities and the community projects driven by the PGA. He is a self centred person with no regard for the fans and the sponsors who pay his income. Interesting fact from Nike Golf. their retal sales have dropped 24% in the last 5 months. I have lived in the US for some time and dont underestimate the values of the USA people. Tigers following in the East has dropped by 40%. so to all people who have the attitude that Tigers private live has nothing to do with golf make a huge mistake. it is a matter of time, the media will kill him. He talks about the fact that winning is not everything and that he needs to become a better person. when he does not win the masters he contradicts himself by saying that he only entrs to win. he is recovering his marrage but his wife goes to her family in Sweden, his publick persons has become the same kind of food that the media like to eat than the mess that Malema created for himself. they will take evry word and action and measure it against his so called media conferance. he is already contradicting himself, so lets sit back and see how he conducts himself, the media will hunt him down and put so much presure on him.
Ash4/26/2010 9:54 AM
Inspite of all his personal problems he is the ultimatey the best golfer...he will get even better now...its actually embarassing for the other golfers when the guy leaves for a few months and comes back still at number one
Piet4/20/2010 8:10 AM
Phil Mickelson will overtake Woods soon, becoming one of the greats!!!!!
Richard4/19/2010 10:49 AM
These are the TIGER facts - Get a grip and deal with it. Tiger is God's gift to golf! because: 1) Tiger wins the tournament every 3rd time he plays. 2) Tiger is current World No.1, 14 majors, 71 US PGA Tour victories, 95 victories worldwide, the next best player about 30 victories, including 4 majors; 3) Tiger brings intensity to golf and to any tournament he competes in - the rest of the players elevate their games when Tiger is in the field because they want to beat him; 4) Golf is big business, and relies heavily on Advertising Spend - When Tiger not in the field, tv ratings down 60%! (that means 60% fewer people watch) (Source Dennis Hutchens, the European Tour TV Commentator, ex- player, 5) This is the greatest golfer (not human being) of our time, and may end up being the greatest golfer ever (if he wins more than 18 majors). If you don't like him, don't root for him. So accept it - Tiger is the greatest player of our time. The scary thing is that a golfer only hits the peak of his golf powers between 30 and 40. So there will still be alot of heart ache and resentment for all you Tiger haters. Say his name with reverence -T-I-G-E-R. I feel sorry for any player playing in the TIGER ERA, especially Ernie Els, who has a beautiful game/swing. PS- I rate YE Yang at about No. 4, after Westwood - He is a fearless underrated Asian Tiger.

Tiger took an injury break and came back still at No.1 He goes out to play 18 holes out of golf, comes back and still become No.1. The other guys don't take a break but cannot topple him. Mediocrity at best.

I THINK ROGER IS DEFINATELY SMOKING SOMETHING.
kevan3/31/2010 5:41 AM
Tiger is living up to the saying, " never marry a golfer they have 9 holes before breakfast." In sport ones mind plays a big role, I wonder what goes through Tigers mind when he looks at the hole on the green. Maybe that is why he is number one in the world. Tiger keep that club erect, you are great and the best there ever will be. Ernie you can learn from him. Ernie is a has being, only one hole before breakfast.
Huh?3/14/2010 11:46 AM
