Cape Town - Tiger Woods is rumoured to have fled his Florida home, headed for Africa... with South Africa his most likely destination.
According to various news reports, Woods is suspected of having flown to Africa in an effort to escape the media spotlight following revelations of his marriage infidelities.
To date Woods has been accused of cheating on his Swedish wife, Elin Nordegren, with as many as 14 mistresses.
According to the TMZ website: As everyone knows, Tiger is in Florida... Arizona... New York... California... on a boat, but people who spoke to him the day after his early morning car crash outside his Windermere home, claim he said his plan was to hide in Africa until the saga quietened down.
The website went on to claim that Tiger's plan was clear: To go to Africa to a friend's home and "completely disappear" from the public view.
Fellow SA golf professionals Ernie Els, Retief Goosen and David Frost all own property in South Africa and are acquaintances of Woods.
According to a report on the limelife website, Woods is in South Africa to go "wildlife sightseeing".
Tiger and Elin got engaged in 2003 at Shamwari Game Reserve outside Port Elizabeth. However, Adrian Gardiner, owner of Shamwari, on Wednesday denied Woods is staying at his reserve.
Sunshine Tour communications manager, Mike Green, confirmed he had heard rumours Woods was in South Africa, but couldn't confirm their accuracy.
