Du Toit, Van Leeuwen win top PGA of SA awards

Johannesburg - The PGA of South Africa has announced two of its most dynamic professionals as the winners of PGA Professional of the Year and PGA Teaching Professional of the Year.

Meyer du Toit, the Golf Director at San Lameer Golf Estate in KwaZulu-Natal, was voted the 2015 PGA Professional of the Year. And Llewellyn van Leeuwen, the Head Coach at the TuksGolf Academy in Gauteng North, was voted the Teaching Professional of the Year.

“Meyer and Llewellyn are both incredible examples of what the PGA of South Africa stands for and the high standards we set for our PGA professionals,” said Ivano Ficalbi, Chief Executive of the PGA of South Africa.

“Both reflect a passion and energy in their work and have made significant strides in growing the game of golf in South Africa.”

This is the first time for both professionals to receive their respective awards.

“I feel very privileged to receive this accolade. It’s an award I have always aspired to achieve and having my name alongside legends in the PGA is truly an honour. I couldn’t have done this on my own and have to thank everyone that helped shape my career as a PGA professional,” said Du Toit.

Van Leeuwen was equally humbled by his award.

“I was nominated a few times for this award and this is the first time I’ve received it. It’s very nice to be recognised for your work. We’ve got such a good team here and we take the team approach to the next level. TuksSport sets high performance standards so this award fits in with that vision.”
