Goosen confirmed for Sun City

Johannesburg - Retief Goosen will be one of the stars supporting the Gary Player Invitational presented by Coca-Cola at Sun City from November 16-17, and which brings together golfers, celebrities, sports stars and business leaders in a joint effort to raise funds for charity.

Goosen has long been a supporter of the tournament, throwing his full weight behind Player’s cause and on occasion travelling with the Grand Slam champion to as far afield as China in a bid to help raise funds for children’s charities.

“I’m delighted that Retief will be joining us again. He’s such a wonderful ambassador for South Africa and he has always been willing to support our Gary Player Invitational tournaments around the world whenever he is able,” said Player.

The double US Open champion says he is looking forward to continuing his support of Player’s celebrity charity pro-am, which will be played at the Lost City Golf Course.

“I always enjoy Gary Player’s company, and I really enjoy the atmosphere of a tournament where the charity element is the main focus around the golf. I think it’s a great opportunity for us to raise funds for the children who need our support and commitment,” Goosen said.

“Gary is a great guy to be around. He’s the most positive person you can be around and you can learn a lot from him.”

This year’s Gary Player Invitational is highlighted by the 30th anniversary of The Player Foundation, which has raised over R500 million for charities around the world.

Funds raised from the South Africa tournament will be shared between the Wildlands Conservation Trust and Wings and Wishes.
