Schwartzel out for revenge

Bangkok - South Africa's Charl Schwartzel said on Wednesday he is determined to go one better and claim the Thailand Golf Championship after a red-hot Lee Westwood destroyed the field at the last edition.

The 2011 Masters champion said he has banished the injuries and bad form which have dogged his season and is ready to give Westwood, and the others in the star-studded field a run for their money in Thailand.

Remembering Westwood's blistering opening round 60 at last year's tournament, Schwartzel said despite playing well he simply could not keep up with the in-form Englishman who won by seven shots.

"I had a great year last year and had a good time here. But Lee was so far ahead after two rounds and we were playing for second spot," Schwartzel said according to the Asian Tour website, adding he was back in Thailand to go "one better than last year".

"I've been playing injury free and am able to swing the club better. I've played nicely the past few weeks," he said, predicting the softer Amata Spring course will provide a "good test" when play starts on Thursday.

Asked if he thought spectators were likely to be treated to another remarkable round of 60 he said: "It's hard to see 60 even last year, let's be honest. If you play well, it's closer to 64."

In addition to defending champion Westwood, Schwartzel is vying for the title with fellow green jacket winner Bubba Watson, Ryder Cup hero Nicolas Colsaerts and Hunter Mahan.
