SA Open delayed by rain

Durban - Heavy rain interrupted the opening round of the co-sanctioned South African Open at Durban Country Club on Thursday.

Waterlogged greens forced organisers to halt play with half of the 156-strong field yet to tee off.

Five players were locked at the top of the leaderboard on two-under-par including South Africa's Retief Goosen. The two-times major winner birdied two of his first four holes.

Briton David Drysdale, Denmark's Thorbjorn Olesen and the South African duo of Martin Maritz and Divan van den Heever were the other players on two-under.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
