SA Golf Hall of Fame opens

Cape Town - The third annual Southern Africa Golf Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony followed by a Gala Banquet, as well as the Celebrity Charity Golf day will be held on Monday, November 28, at the Wanderers GC, Johannesburg.
 
The 2011 Inductees have also just been announced and Hugh Baiocchi, one of South Africa’s most successful players in the 1970s and '80s, heads the list.

Other inductees include:

George Fotheringham
Jannie le Roux
Cobie le Grange
Simon Hlapo
Jeanette Burd

In addition, the Sid Brews Golf Heritage Trust is delighted to be able to invite you to visit the Southern Africa Golf Hall of Fame Museum, situated at the Hyatt Regency Oubaai in Herolds Bay, George.
 
The museum covers the history of South African golf in terms of wallpaper documented in the form of photographs, articles, and copy, as well as all aspects of golf including:

•    Origins of Golf
•    Museum Founding
•    Majors, winners, and Senior Major winners, as well as those who came close
•    Pull-up banners of the major winners
•    History of SA Golf
•    Women's Golf
•    SA Amateur & Professional winners
•    Trivia and points of interest
•    International victories
•    Golfers through the ages
•    The story of "Pre- Democracy" golf 1960 - 1992
•    Golf Hall of Fame inductions to-date
•    Extinct golf courses & Golf course design
•    Hall of Fame

Memorabilia includes:

•    Display golf clubs from 1850 - 1960, as well as golf balls
•    Displays of illegal, adjustable, locally hand-forged, locally stamped clubs, putters
•    Golf balls including feathery, guttie balls dating from 1850
•    Making of golf balls
•    Various displays from the office, bar, silver, smoking, porcelain...
•    Numerous trophies including the Canada Cup & Freddie Tait trophies
•    7x Display cabinets with Inductee and other donated memorabilia
•    Many other displays in additional cabinets and on the walls
•    Enclosed exhibition area comprising early golf bags and related items
•    Enclosed glass storeroom with early golf bags and clubs
