Stenson: It's a good time to start firing

Cape Town - Henrik Stenson was understandably elated after capturing his first title of the year at the Wyndham Championship, and is looking forward to the FedEx Cup.

The Swede hasn't had the best of seasons by his normally high standards, but a final-round 64 at Sedgefield Country Club on Sunday was just what the doctor ordered.

Stenson did just about enough to keep a rampant Ollie Schniederjans at bay and earn a one-stroke victory.

It's Stenson's first win since his memorable Open Championship triumph over a year ago, and with the FedEx Cup play-offs looming, he hopes it is sign of what's to come.

"It's certainly a good time to start firing," he told PGATour.com. "We know the kind of damage you can do during the Playoffs when the points are up to four times the normal season, right, so if you get hot and keep on playing well, certainly a chance to challenge for the overall.

"It's the first step, and delighted to get a win this year."

The first event of the FedEx Cup, the Northern Trust Open, starts this week.
