Castro leads at weather-hit Sanderson Farms

Los Angeles - Roberto Castro took control of a weather-disrupted day two at the Sanderson Farms Championship on Friday, firing another flawless round to open up a commanding four-shot lead.

The 30-year-old from Texas had lit up the first round on Thursday with a sparkling bogey-free 10-under-par 62 on the 7 354-yard Country Club of Jackson layout in Mississippi.

Another error-free round on Friday - a five-under-par 67 - took him four shots clear of his nearest rivals heading into the weekend.

However the weather wreaked havoc with Friday's second round, with heavy rain and lightning on the course forcing separate interruptions. As darkness fell many in the field were yet to begin their second round, raising the prospect of a hectic weekend.

Castro notched a birdie on the par-five third hole before holing out from 122 yards to claim an eagle two on the par-four eighth to go to the turn at three under for the day.

Two more birdies on the back nine completed a blemish free round which leaves him perfectly poised as he chases the first win of his PGA Tour career.

His previous best finish was a second place at the 2013 AT&T National in 2013. Castro's closest challenger is Bryce Molder, who followed up his opening 64 with a three-under-par 69.
