SA golfers on song at Match Play

San Francisco - All four of South Africa’s golfers notched wins at the WGC-Championship Match Play Championship at Harding Park on Friday.

Louis Oosthuizen exacted a measure of revenge over American fourth seed Bubba Watson to send the two-time Masters champion packing.

Oosthuizen, who lost to Watson in a sudden-death playoff in the 2012 Masters, booked his place in the last 16 with victory on the 19th hole after the decisive match in Group 4 finished all square after 18.

George Coetzee beat Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee after 21 holes, while Branden Grace beat America’s Charley Hoffman 2&1 and Charl Schwartzel defeated Australia’s Matt Jones after 20 holes.

In Saturday’s round of 16, Oosthuizen squares up to America’s Rickie Fowler, Schwartzel faces England’s Paul Casey and Grace tackles England’s Tommy Fleetwood.

Despite his win over Jaidee, Coetzee did not qualify for Saturday's round of 16.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
