Oosthuizen into Open lead

St Andrews - Louis Oosthuizen went a shot clear in the final round of the British Open at St Andrews on Monday with a birdie at the first hole.

The South African, who won the tournament the last time it was held at St Andrews in 2010, popped in a six-footer to get to 13 under.

Playing partner, Irish amateur Paul Dunne, made a mess of his approach and took a bogey to fall to 11 under.

History-seeking Jordan Spieth had a birdie at the first to get to 12 under and champion in 2007 and 2008 Padraig Harrington birdied the first two holes and was also on 12 under as the battle for major honours began in earnest.

Joint leader Jason Day stayed at level par through two holes as the rain began to fall

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
