Ochoa welcomes baby boy

Mexico City - Retired golf legend, Mexico's Lorena Ochoa, announced the birth of her first child, son Pedro, on Thursday night.

Former world number one Ochoa, who retired with 27 career LPGA triumphs and two major titles, posted in a message on her Facebook website that Pedro weighed 2.8 kilograms and was 48 centimeters long when he was born.

"We both are doing great," Ochoa said.

Ochoa, 30, retired in April of last year and married Andres Conesa, the chief executive officer of Aeromexico, last year.

Her eight-year career included major triumphs at the 2007 Women's British Open and 2008 Kraft Nabisco Championship.

Ochoa won more than $14.8 million in 77 LPGA events and was named the LPGA Player of the Year in four years in a row from 2006 through 2009.

The birth comes less than a month after Ochoa served as host of the LPGA invitational event in Guadalajara that bears her name.
