Oosthuizen is new SA No 1

Johannesburg - Fresh off his three-stroke win at the Malaysian Open at the weekend, Louis Oosthuizen is now South Africa's top-ranked golfer.

Oosthuizen rose seven places to 12th in the latest world rankings released on Monday, displacing compatriot Charl Schwartzel who moved down to 13th spot.

In the last three weeks, Oosthuizen has finished third, second and first, and for the first time in his career is South Africa's number one player.

With Schwartzel and Oosthuizen leading the SA charge in the ratings list, there are another eight local players in the top 100 in the world.

Retief Goosen is the SA number three at 55th in the world, and Ernie Els is seven places behind the Goose.

George Coetzee finds himself in 73rd spot and Jaco van Zyl is in 80th position.

American-based Rory Sabbatini is 83rd, while young Branden Grace is in 89th place.

Thomas Aiken, at 91st, and Hennie Otto, at 98th, round out the South Africans in the top 100.
