Crans-Montana - Spaniard Miguel-Angel Jimenez chalked up his third victory of the European Tour season when he claimed the European Masters title by three shots on Sunday.

The 46-year-old, twice a runner-up in the tournament, held off his Ryder Cup team mate Edoardo Molinari to head the Italian with a closing four-under-par 67 for a 21-under four-round total.

Jimenez, who became the European Tour's first to three wins this season, appeared to be strolling to his 18th tour title when he held a six-stroke advantage over Molinari after 11 holes.

However, the determination that had earned Molinari his Ryder Cup debut as one of Colin Montgomerie's wildcards saw the Italian reduce that margin to just a stroke at the 15th which the Italian, himself looking for a third 2010 title, eagled.

A vital save on the short 16th, while Molinari bogeyed, took the pressure off Jimenez and he all but sealed victory when he rolled in a curling 12ft birdie putt on the 17th.
