Hoylake to stage 2014 Open

St Andrews - Royal Liverpool Golf Club is set to host The Open Championship in 2014, the 12th time the Hoylake links has hosted golf's oldest Major competition.

Tiger Woods won the tournament the last time it was played at Hoylake on the northwest English coast in 2006, becoming the first back-to-back winner since Tom Watson in 1983.

The 2006 tournament attracted a record total crowd of 230 000.

The Old Course at St  Andrews hosts this year's championship July 15-18 and that is followed by Royal St  George's in 2011, Royal Lytham & St. Annes in 2012 and Muirfield in 2013.
