Pretoria - Anders Hansen claimed his second victory in South Africa this year when he won the Vodacom Championship by four strokes at Pretoria Country Club on Sunday.

The Dane added to his victory in January's Joburg Open, giving him a perfect record of played two and won two during his time on the Sunshine Tour in 2009. And it completes an unbelievable start to the year for him following a successful run on the European Tour's recent Middle East swing, where his worst finish was 16th.

"It's been a great start to the year. Unbelievable. I'm just going to try and ride it because we all know it won't last a lifetime," said Hansen.

"I felt I had a good chance to win this one. There were some really good players here. Charl (Schwartzel) is a great player on home soil and I was lucky to get out on top. But I can't explain how and why it happened." It happened with a 65, including birdies at his final two holes, for a winning total of 18 under par.

Charl Schwartzel and Graham DeLaet did their best to catch him, but had to settle for a share of second place on 14 under par with respective final rounds of 70 and 71.

The "how" behind Hansen's victory entailed his ability to shut out the many runs that were made on his lead on the final day.

"You always try and do that, but to be honest I really didn't feel that comfortable over the ball in the final round. John McLaren, my caddie, did a great job of keeping us in the game." A key run of scoring for Hansen was in three holes from the 12th. He failed to birdie that par five. But then he hit a tremendous second shot into the par-four 13th green to two feet and made birdie there. And he followed it with a tee shot to three feet on the par-three 14th for another birdie that kept his challengers at bay.

"Things were going my way at a time when I needed it," he said.

Schwartzel was again frustrated by his putting as several birdie putts missed by narrow margins, and DeLaet, who took a one-stroke lead into the final round, bogeyed two of his first three holes to end his title hopes.

Hansen's summer in South Africa is also not complete with him confirming that he will be playing in this week's Telkom PGA Championship at Country Club Johannesburg.

Tyrone Ferreira signed off his tournament on a lucrative note, winning R100 000 for a hole-in-one.

Ferreira aced the par-three 16th, holing out with a five iron on the 195-metre hole. It was a healthy bonus on top of the cheque he earned for finishing tied 37th in the tournament.
