Atlanta - Two-time US Open champion Retief Goosen withdrew from the PGA Championship on Friday during his second round, citing a back injury as he became the third player of the day to call it quits.
Goosen, who captured his major titles in 2001 and 2004, also withdrew from last month's British Open, only making it through one round at Royal St. Georges.
The 42-year-old South African fired a 75 in his first round at Atlanta Athletic Club on Thursday and was two-over through 10 holes in his second round when he pulled out.
Two US players withdrew Friday before the start of their second rounds, J.B. Hayes citing illness and Rocco Mediate, the 2008 US Open playoff loser to Tiger Woods, citing an arm injury.
