Clearwater - American Jim Furyk fired a two-under 69 to beat KJ Choi by one shot at the Transitions Championship and capture his first PGA Tour win in three years.

Furyk finished at 13-under 271 and won for the 14th time in his career, moving to number six in the world.

South Korea's Choi was tied with Furyk through seven holes until a two-shot swing on the par-three eighth.

Choi never got any closer until the last hole. He closed with a four-under 67, but his second place finish should be enough to move him to No. 47 in the world, giving him an outside chance of still making it into the Masters.

Furyk was on the 18th hole when Tiger Woods was giving his first on camera interviews since the car crash and the subsequent sex scandal that shattered his image.

Furyk said he doesn't mind playing second fiddle to Woods again.

"You know what? Tomorrow, the paper is going to read that I won the golf tournament, and I don't really care if it's a three-page spread or a little blurb in the corner of the paper because the article is about him.

"I won the damn thing, and it really doesn't matter to me."

It marked his first victory since capturing the 2007 Canadian Open, the longest stretch without a win since he first joined the PGA Tour.

"It all worked out in the end," said Furyk.
