Dubai - England's Ross Fisher surged into the lead at the Dubai World Championship with a course-record 8-under 64, taking an early second-round lead over top-ranked Lee Westwood and his playing partner Ian Poulter.
Fisher, who was tied for seventh after the first round, had eight birdies in his second to take the lead at the European Tour's season-ending, $7.5m tournament in Dubai with a dozen players still on the course.
Westwood and Poulter also started well, birdying their first three holes to move into a tie for second.
