Oubaai - Ernie Els has had to withdraw from next week's Vodacom Business Origins Goes Easy final at Oubaai Golf Club in George, where he was scheduled to tee it up alongside the Sunshine Tour professionals and a select group of amateurs in this pro-am series.
Els' career has been the theme for this year's series, which has featured five tournaments leading up the final and played on various golf courses around South Africa personally selected by Els for the significance they represent in his career.
The series is the biggest on the Sunshine Tour, and featured invited amateurs competing for a place alongside the professionals in next week's final.
Els had expressed his desire to play in the final, and was set to make his first appearance on the winter portion of the Sunshine Tour in over two decades.
But the world number 10 said in St Andrews this week, where he is playing in the European Tour's Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, he has been forced to withdraw to focus on his appearance in the Grand Slam of Golf, which is being played the week following the Oubaai final.
"I'm disappointed I won't be able to play in the final because it's been a privilege and an honour to be selected as Vodacom Business's ambassador for this year's series," Els said.
"The Sunshine Tour is where it all began for me, so when I was approached to be a part of the series, I didn't hesitate. I designed Oubaai to be a tough test, so I know it will make for a good final in my absence."
