Loch Lomond - Former world number one Ernie Els believes he can rediscover his form in time for next week's British Open after a disappointing second round here at the Scottish Open on Friday.
The South African started brightly in the rain at Loch Lomond but dropped six shots on the back nine to post a 76 and a two-day total of three-over par.
With the cut expected to be at two over, the 40-year-old is likely to have the weekend to work on his game ahead of next week's major at St Andrews.
"I was just fighting my swing all day," he said. "It's probably better for me to get out of here if I'm being completely honest.
"I will need to get up to St Andrews and work on it. It's not what I wanted to do, believe me, but I just kind of got fed up of fighting my swing all day long.
"I came to Loch Lomond because I love it. It's a beautiful place and I've always had a good time here. But that was probably the worst round I've played.
"My swing is not quite there yet and I've got a couple of days now to get it right."
The 'Big Easy' has won three majors in his career but his last was the 2002 British Open at Muirfield. But before his poor show this week, he was in decent form having lifted two titles this year and come third in last month's US Open.
"It's just a feel thing with me," he added. "But I'll get something going and hopefully be ready for Thursday. I've got five or six days to get ready now."
