Donald out of HSBC Champs

Hong Kong - Word No 1 Luke Donald has withdrawn from the HSBC Champions next week in Shanghai to be with his wife for the birth of their second child.

Tournament organisers released a statement on Saturday saying Donald had hoped the baby would arrive this week, but has now "reluctantly canceled his trip."

"It's important for my wife and it's important for me to make sure that I'm around to support her," the statement quoted the Englishman from his home in the United States as saying. "It's no coincidence that the birth of our first daughter inspired me to some really great golf. Family does put a lot of things into perspective - my job is very important but the family out-trumps everything."

Donald, who sealed the US PGA's money title when he won the Disney Classic last week, is trying to become the first ever player to win the money lists on both sides of the Atlantic.
