Marana - South Africa's Tim Clark withdrew from the World Golf Championships Match-Play Championship on Tuesday because of an elbow injury and was replaced in the 64-player event by American J.B. Holmes.

Clark, who won The Players Championship last year, is ranked 22 in the world and was set to open against Colombian Camilo Villegas on Wednesday. Holmes will move into the match against Villegas.

Clark has not played since sharing second place at last month's PGA Sony Open in Hawaii, where he developed severe foot blisters.

Holmes lost 1-down to Tiger Woods in the first round of the 2008 WGC Match-Play in his only prior start in the event.

Scotland's Stephen Gallacher becomes the next alternate eligible to move into the lineup due to injury with Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee after him.
