Carlsson leads Nordea Masters

Stockholm - Magnus Carlsson of Sweden shot a 7-under 65 on Wednesday to open up a two-stroke lead after the opening round of the Nordea Masters.

Carlsson's round was soured by making a bogey on the last at Bro Hof.

Countryman Peter Hanson and clubhouse leader Richard Bland of England are next along with two others.

The 661st-ranked Bland says "I had a bit of an up and down start but I kicked it into gear around the turn."

Third-ranked Lee Westwood is in a group of eight at 4 under. Playing partner and defending champion Alex Noren shot a 74.

The Nordea Masters started on Wednesday to give some players more time to prepare for the US Open next week in San Francisco.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
