Bohn wins Zurich Classic

New Orleans - American Jason Bohn snapped a five-year win drought on Sunday, making birdies on three of the last four holes to complete a wire-to-wire victory at the Zurich Classic.

Bohn, who turned 37 on Saturday, fired a bogey-less final-round five-under par 67 to finish 72 holes on 18-under par 270, defeating countryman Jeff Overton by two strokes for his first triumph since the 2005 BC Open.

"I'm probably the only guy on the PGA Tour who has got tears when he's putting out on the 18th hole," Bohn said. "Incredible."

Not since Calvin Peete in 1986 had a player led after every round in winning the PGA's New Orleans event.

Storms on Friday forced Bohn to complete the last 12 holes of his third-round 71 on Sunday morning in order to finish the event on schedule.

Overton matched Bohn for the lead late in the final round but Bohn responded by sinking a five-foot birdie putt at the 15th and a 12-foot birdie putt at the 16th, then matching Overton with a par at the 17th and birdie at 18.

"When I hit the shot on 15 and made the great putt on 16, I knew if I stayed patient I had it," Bohn said. "It's just amazing."

Overton gave himself an eagle putt chance at the par-5 18th but Bohn sealed the $1.116 million top prize at the $6.2 million event by putting his approach inches from the cup, tapping in to match Overton with the round's only birdies at 18.

Bohn, ahead by four after 36 holes, birdied the par-4 eighth for the first time Sunday in round three and added another at 12 before a bogey at the par-3 17th left him on one-under 71 for the third round, two ahead of German Alex Cejka after 54 holes.

In the last round, Bohn birdied the eighth for the third round in a row and added another at the par-5 11, setting the stage for his late-hole birdie binge.

American Troy Merritt was third on 274, one stroke better than compatriot Lee Janzen with Australia's Greg Chalmers fifth on 276 and Aussie Stuart Appleby sixth on 277.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
