Allenby in monkey business

Kuala Lumpur - Australia's Robert Allenby said Wednesday that he had a run-in with an unusual rival when warming up for the CIMB Asia Pacific Classic in Malaysia - an over-friendly rogue monkey.

Allenby, who hails from Melbourne, was practising on the 10th hole for the $6.1 million co-sanctioned PGA Tour and Asian Tour event that begins Thursday when he noticed the grey creature hanging from a nearby tree.

The 40-year-old said he took a photo of the animal, but when he went closer to take another picture, the monkey became a bit too friendly.

"I got chased by a monkey yesterday, which was interesting," Allenby told a press conference at The Mines Resort & Golf Club in Kuala Lumpur.

"He was only a little fella but he had big teeth.

"He scared the hell out of me so I just ran 100 miles an hour."
