Cape Town - In a bid to fill their barren international calendar Zimbabwe have arranged to visit Scotland for two ODIs at the Grange in Edinburgh this June.

Zimbabwe have struggled to find nations willing to either host them or visit the Southern African country with the men in red unable to attract the kind of audiences that are desired.

Despite Zimbabwe's full member status the nation has been neglected by the other full members and their financial situation is a cause of great concern.

Zimbabwe have consequently struggled to maintain the quality of cricket expected of a full member of the ICC and have slipped behind associate member Afghanistan, who recently beat them 3-2 in a series in Harare, on the ODI rankings.

Cricket Scotland CEO Malcolm Cannon said: "Securing home international matches against a Full Member nation is something we have all worked tirelessly on over the past 18 months so I am delighted we have managed to make these matches a reality.

"The squad will relish the opportunity to put in some winning performances in front of a passionate home crowd."

Zimbabwe will be forced to play in the World Cup qualifying tournament and on current form face the very real prospect of losing out to either Ireland or Afghanistan and missing the World Cup for the first time since the debuted in 1983.

Scotland will also feature in the qualifying tournament which will be held in Bangladesh in 2018.
