Mashrafe rues 'disappointing' bowling display

Cape Town - Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza feels his bowlers have to be a lot better if they want to come back in the next two matches of the ODI series against South Africa.

The Proteas cruised to 10-wicket victory in the first ODI in Kimberley on Sunday - chasing a total of 279 - with openers Quinton de Kock (168*) and Hashim Amla (110*) both scoring unbeaten centuries in a record partnership.

"We have a chance to make a comeback in the next two games. It is only natural to have a lot of talk around us but the players have to fight," Mashrafe said after the game.

"We will do everything possible. The result is not coming in our favour which makes it hard to keep the positive mentality.

"I think they would have chased the total regardless, but we should have taken at least five or six wickets in the process. It may have put them under some pressure, but our bowling was just disappointing," he said.

"It will be hard for us to do well if we keep bowling this way."

After being whitewashed two-nil in the Test series, the Tigers have a must-win in the next one-dayer in Paarl on Wednesday - if they are to remain alive in the three-match series.

The third and final ODI is scheduled to take place in East London on Sunday, October 22.
