Knights on the hunt for permanent coach

Cape Town - The Knights are on the hunt for a new head coach for the 2016/17 domestic season.

Former Proteas all-rounder Nicky Boje started the season as interim Knights coach, taking over from Sarel Cilliers.

But Boje was recently allowed to leave to play in the Masters Champions League (MCL) T20 event in the UAE, as well as take part in the Mumbai Marathon.

Boje will play for the Libra Legends alongside compatriot Jacques Kallis in the MCL event which will take place from January 28-February 14.

Former Proteas fast bowler Allan Donald took over as interim coach during Boje's absence, with the former Proteas spinner set to return on February 14.

It is believed that when he accepted the interim coaching position at the Knights, Boje informed the franchise of his plans to play in the MCL event as well as compete in the Mumbai Marathon.

The Knights have advertised for a new two-year head coaching position, with the closing date for applications set for February 10, 2016.

Boje, Donald and former Cape Cobras coach, Shukri Conrad, are believed to be the front-runners for the job.
