Kleinveldt on fire for Northants

London - South Africa's Rory Kleinveldt put Northamptonshire on course for victory against Nottinghamshire on Wednesday with his first-class career best figures of nine for 65.

Kleinveldt's heroics gave Northants the chance to close out a vital win at Wantage Road in a game they have to win to keep their County Championship Second Division promotion hopes alive.

Richard Levi's second-innings 115 helped set Notts 314 to win before Kleinveldt extended his haul to 11 wickets in the match as the visitors closed day two on 33 for two.

Kleinveldt completed his first-class best figures in the morning to bowl Nottinghamshire out for 151 and then took two more wickets in the evening as Notts faced 14 overs in their second innings before the close.

In between, Levi played an innings totally at odds with the rest of the game as Northants made 270 in their second innings.

Kleinveldt took the five remaining Nottinghamshire wickets to hand Northants a useful 43-run first-innings lead.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
