Gayle: Virat and AB are Batman and Superman

Cape Town - Royal Challengers Bangalore opener Chris Gayle has compared team mates Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers to Batman and Superman, after their exploits against Kolkata saw the RCB resurgence this season continue.

While Gayle has had an average season so far, the India and South Africa captains have been top shelf, and a vital part to the team's recover after a poor start. They are still in the run for a play off place.

Gayle said after his side's nine-wicket win over the Knight Riders on Monday: "Those two guys are playing like ‘Batman and Superman’.

"They are in the form of their lives, especially Kohli. They should continue pressing the gas, don't ease up and fill their boots with as much runs as possible. They are doing a phenomenal job for RCB.

"It’s fantastic, they are batting under pressure as well. Credit must go to both of them. Kohli leading from the front is even better. Overall, it’s a great team effort.

"Those guys may have contributed in all the 12 games so far. Hopefully, they can continue and put us in winning position."

As for his own form, Gayle recorded a string of five single figure scores before contributing with 49 against Kolkata, and said that it was part of the game to have slumps.

He added: "It’s cricket. You maybe a big player but sometime you need a bit of reminder as well how good you are. There’s always been up and down in cricket and life as well. You just try to reborn as quickly as possible."
