Cape Town - A crucial knock of 47 not out from England firebrand Ben Stokes helped them get over the line in the deciding third ODI of the series against Bangladesh in Chittagong.
England's chase was built on a solid foundation thanks to half centuries from youngsters Sam Billings and Ben Duckett but things started to wobble in the middle for the tourists.
Earlier Bangladesh recovered from a middle-order collapse to post a competitive 277 for 6 in their fifty overs.
Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes put on a fine opening stand of 80 before the latter chipped Stokes to square leg to depart four runs short of a fourth ODI fifty.
Iqbal too fell in the forties as he failed to pick Adil Rashid's googly and holed out to cover for 45.
Mohammed Mahmudullah (6) fell cheaply before Sabbir Rahman (49) and Mushfiqur Rahim put on 54 to take Bangladesh to 176 before Rashid claimed his third victim in the former.
Allrounders Shakib Al Hasan and Nasir Hossain both fell for four and Bangladesh were in trouble but Mushfiqur and Mosaddek Hossain would finish strongly.
Mushfiqur would finish on 67 not out while Mosaddek recorded an unbeaten 38 with the pair putting on 85 runs at just over 7 per over.
Adil Rashid was England's star with the ball as he picked up 4 for 43 from his ten overs.
In response England started well as James Vince and Sam Billings got going at a good pace putting on 63 in 11.4 overs.
Vince failed to capitalise on his start though as he was trapped leg before for 32.
Billings (62) cranked up the pressure on Vince by going to his maiden ODI half century before holing out to deep square leg.
Duckett (63) and Jonny Bairstow (15) looked to be well set before both departed in quick succession to let the Tigers back into the game.
It looked like Jos Buttler and Stokes would take England home but Buttler fell for 25 to Mashrafe Mortaza before the Bangladesh skipper removed Moeen Ali for 1 in his next over to give the English the jitters.
Kayes would drop Chris Woakes (27*) at slip with England still needing 21 to win in the 47th over.
Stokes smashed Shafiul Islam for six in the very next over to calm the nerves for the visitors.
England would get home with two overs to spare winning by four wickets but won't thank the middle-order.
Mashrafe Mortaza became Bangladesh's all time leading wicket-taker as he recorded figures of 2 for 51 and was the pick of the Bangladesh bowlers.
Next up for these two is a two match Test series that gets underway on October 20 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
