ECB approach Swann to be spin consultant

London - Former England spinner Graeme Swann has been approached by the ECB to coach the under 19 spinners at Loughborough, with a view to improving the senior side's spin stocks.

England have struggled to replace Swann with a premier off-spinner since his retirement over two years ago, with all-rounder Moeen Ali the current in the role but achieving middling results with the ball.

As such, according to Cricinfo, the ECB have asked Swann to help coach the younger players heading towards places in the Lions team, as he lives close to Loughborough in Nottinghamshire.

Swann's experience in India is the main reason for the request, as England will be touring India later this year. As such, Swann's brain will also be picked for the senior side's players.

England has a record of using spin consultants, with Saqlain Mushtaq the most recent to help out, working with Moeen and Adil Rashid during the current home series against Pakistan.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
