Anderson injury doubt for Pakistan series

London — England pace bowler James Anderson is an injury doubt for the upcoming Test series against Pakistan after suffering a stress fracture in his right shoulder.

The England and Wales Cricket Board says Anderson, the world's top-ranked Test bowler, sustained the injury in the third Test against Sri Lanka earlier this month.

The board said in a statement Saturday that his "availability for the Pakistan Test series, commencing on July 14, will be determined following ongoing management and review by both the ECB and Lancashire's medical teams."

The third Test against Sri Lanka finished in a draw after England had already secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
