Windies demolish Pakistan

Guyana - The West Indies beat Pakistan by 10 wickets in the fifth and final one-day international at National Stadium, Guyana, on Thursday.

Lendl Simmons was unbeaten on 77 and Kirk Edwards had 40 when they passed the small target in 23.3 overs.

Earlier, seamers Ravi Rampaul and Darren Sammy ripped through Pakistan to give the hosts the upper hand.

Rampaul claimed 4-45 while captain Sammy took 3-30 as Pakistan slumped to 139 all out in 41.2 overs.

Mohammad Hafeez top-scored with 55 off 83 deliveries but no other batsman passed 25.

West Indies replied with 34-0 before the interval with the in-form Lendl Simmons striking three fours in an unbeaten 17.

Pakistan's innings was derailed early as Rampaul induced an inside edge from Taufeeq Umar to make it 16-1.

Hafeez and Ahmed Shehzad shared a second-wicket stand of 32 before Sammy strangled the innings with his miserly spell.

Shehzad under-edged a pull onto his stumps after struggling to 9 off 33 balls.

Legspinner Devendra Bishoo removed Usman Salahuddin leg before at 67-3.

The slide continued when Sammy claimed Misbah-ul-Haq lbw, and then took the key wicket of Hafeez, who dragged onto his stumps.

Umar Akmal offered a brief counterattack in 24 off 27 balls but Rampaul returned to disturb his stumps.

Rampaul added the wickets of Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi and Wahab Riaz as the innings went into terminal decline.

Dwayne Bravo claimed the last two wickets for 2-16.

Afridi opened the bowling but Pakistan couldn't make any headway in the 20 minutes before the interval.
